It has been the strict adherence to these values that has led to continued success of JACO Powerlines over the last 34 years. We are fully equipped and staffed for any and all distribution and transmission work. We are experienced in design, maintenance, repair, and construction for all types of power lines, including hot stick work. We have built a reputation of being a leader of off road power line construction and repairs. We also have dedicated crews that are equipped and have the experience to perform various underground installations.
Our company belives as a standard, process improvement is necessary for the long term success and longevity. If we do not have the expertise in house we are resourceful in finding the right people through our extensive business connections we have established over the years. JACO Powerlines is committed to providing our customers with a cost effective, safe and timely Powerline consturction. We are able to deliver this while meeting all of their requirements through the following mechanisms:
➢ Providing professional people, competent crews ensuring:
o All work performed complies with such standards, procedures, specifications and Drawings that are issued .
o Complete salvage, site clean up
o Positive relationship building with landowners
• Ensuring we contact landowners prior to entering onto their land, and following the landowners conditions once on their land
o liaising effectively and productively between different stakeholders on the project
o Ensuring compliance with Rural Municipality regulations regarding road use.
o Employing certified traffic control persons where required.
o Providing fire prevention and control equipment and manpower.

o Ensure all Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Provincial Ministry of Environment and Local environmental requirements are followed.
o Employing environmental monitors as required to assist in high sensitivity projects

Safety is paramount to the success of JACO Powerlines and will continue to be the leading indicator of operational excellence. JACO Powerlines currently employees a full time HS&E Manager to ensure compliance with our Health Safety & Environmental Manual, OH&S regulation, and the Workers Compensation Act and to look for ways to improve upon our safety program. JACO Powerlines is a COR certified company.
Work is evaluated at 3 separate stages for possible safety risks and plans formulated to minimize or mitigate the potential safety risks. Initial design, work plan development, and finally pre construction tailboards are used to evaluate and either eliminate or mitigate risk. JACO Powerlines uses a “Just Culture” approach when managing our safety program. We strongly believe that a successful safety program is proactive not reactive and adapting a “Just Culture” provides us the best opportunity to achieve this core value. We develop and review our safe work practices and procedures by receiving input from all employees, ground workers up through management and ownership. We want everyone at JACO Powerlines to feel a sense of ownership and pride we it comes to safety. We feel that this is one of the keys to having a functioning safety program.
JACO Powerlines is committed to a path of environmental sustainability. This means reducing our environmental footprint, promoting environmentally responsible business activities, and offering environmentally responsible products and services. We believe that fulfilling our goals in these areas will lead to short and long term benefits for our clients, employees and the communities in which we live and conduct business.
Our management team, conducts pre job meetings with the foremen to review the environmental concerns of each specific project, before commencement of each job/project. This includes the locations riparian areas, streams/rivers and any wildlife habitats that have been brought to their attention during the request for proposal and also anything that has been overlooked. The foreman is to conduct an overview with the crew members before work commences as well as perform continuous updates during and at completion of the project.
Capacity & Work Delivery
We currently have the capacity to perform spend volume requests of $25,600,000.00 annually based on figures from recent contract awards for distribution and transmission work. JACO would be able to supply 13 fully equipped crews immediately to facilitate any project needs and draw upon additional resources to meet greater demand as required. We have the experience and contingency plans for mobilization to any location across Western Canada. We currently have an extensive fleet of equipment to meet any project need.
JACO Powerlines currently have a long and proud tradition of engaging along with working for and with aboriginal communities throughout BC.
JACO Powerlines has recently signed an MOU with a local first nation band Seyem’ Qwantlen Nation as a demonstration of our commitment to aboriginal inclusion moving forward.
We currently have an ongoing relationship providing services for the Kitasoo Band in the remote village of Klemtu. Band member Darren Edgar can speak to our commitment to providing quality, professional services to the village with an awareness of the unique challenges of working in such a remote community. We also have an ongoing relationship with the Nuu-chah-nulth tribal council both on a personal and professional level and are currently looking for further opportunities to strengthen our relationship.
We have worked with or for several other bands over the past 30 years including Sechelt, Kyuquot, Guilford Island, Fort Ware, Kingcome Inlet, Zebellos, and Prince Rupert.
We are always looking to work with the aboriginal community to build sustainable economic development for First Nations people. To provide the hands on training for the skills needed to succeed in the power line industry. We want to grow together through a mutual trust and respect working towards the achievement of our common goals. There is currently rapid growth coupled with the future investment into the utility infrastructure. This is why we feel now is the time to start the recruitment and training within the aboriginal community so that the youth of today are prepared to seize the opportunity of the tomorrow. We also want to be able to provide opportunity in the here and now to all those with the shared passion and drive to take on the challenge.
